PLEASE NOTE: Trainees employed by NHW are required to present evidence of being fully immunised as per Department of Health regulations   Students In this program apply to study: Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care) This qualification allows trainees to work as Personal Care Assistants in Aged care upon completion and would suit students interested in working with our elderly residents at our AGED care facility at Illoura (College St Wangaratta). Trainees work directly/hands on under full supervision of NHW staff with our residents assisting to provide all daily hygiene needs (including showering), grooming, dressing, toileting and managing incontinence and assisting residents to eat and mobilise. Trainees will be working with our staff with residents who have high levels of disability and some may have dementia. The certificate will replace one school subject during the school year. All students will complete core units including work health safety, infection control and confidentiality. Students will also complete electives related to health care including, provide support to people living with dementia, work effectively with older people and provide support to meet personal care needs. All theory will be delivered by GOTAFE. Completing this traineeship will see the successful candidate: Gain a nationally recognised Certificate III in the chosen field of industry. Acquire skills and theory in healthcare. Greater career, study and employment options will also be available to you. School-based studies can contribute credit towards VCE or VCAL studies.
